Sundown: Contributors

The friends who have helped us make Sundown happen include: Smithy

Nat Budin is our audio editor and producer, and if the songs on the Sundown album sound clearer, crisper and better-mixed than anything we’ve put out before, he’s the one to thank. He also works (and plays! and sings!) with Stranger Ways.

Ethan Bassford has taken on the awe-inspiring job of being Sundown‘s project manager, wrangling our dozen-plus members, scattered all over the country, into getting the many, many tasks involved in producing this project done in anything approaching an efficient fashion. He can also be found playing with his own band, Ava Luna.

Marc Dunn created our character-specific custom period and period-inspired leather and metal costume pieces, including metal-studded leather belts for Odin, Loki and Baldur, and accessories for the Seeress based on the description from the saga. Marc’s services are very affordable, and he can be reached at madcraftofvt [at] gmail.com.

Gary Ehrlich and the rest of the Balticon staff have been magnificent, both for their unwavering support of our group over the years and for making the Sundown play possible in the first place by inviting us to be Musical Guests of Honor at Balticon 47. A special thank-you goes out to the Balticon tech staff, who are working extensively with us to ensure as polished a production as possible.

Greer Gilman, fantasy author and winner of the World Fantasy Award and Tiptree Award, is a long-time friend of the group, and helped with the preparation of the libretto, as well as many other stages of the project. You can learn about her work here.

Betsy Isaacson is a long-time friend of the group, who helped organize our Kickstarter and publicity, and helps us screen and sort recordings. Betsy writes for the Technology desk at the Huffington Post.

Alyssa Klein is another long-time friend who helps with screening and sorting recordings.

David Kowarsky is a professional videographer, director and filmmaker, currently working as a Senior Producer at Grovo. He is directing and producing the DVD of the Sundown Balticon performance, and wrote the script for the Kickstarter video. You can learn about his work here.

Christina Krupp, our costume consultant, has been absolutely indispensable in ensuring the historical authenticity of all our garb. If you’re interested, you can read her guide to Viking clothing here.

Mark the Silverdragon has helped with our preparations for Balticon and will be managing us during the performance and final rehearsals.

Melissa Milner drew the beautiful original knot work decorative frame for our “Your Name in Runes” thank-you certificates.

Rob Snyder is the artist who did the original design for our Norse Cosmos Poster, showing all the nine worlds of the Viking universe, populated with their signature landmarks and creatures: Nidhogg, Lidskalf, the spring of Hvergelmir, the well of Urd, and all sorts of goodies.

Jo Walton, Hugo- Nebula- and World Fantasy Award-winning author, has been a great support to the group in many ways, and is galvanizing the Kickstarter by promising to write an original poem about Odin, to be shared online, if we reach $10,000, and another about Loki if we reach $14,000. Her poems are rich and elaborate, with beautiful use of classic meter, so we hope to see them exist! See her blog on LiveJournal.
